As members will be aware significant costs have been imposed on service providers in meeting the needs of regulatory agencies on compliance aspects related to international trade logistics and supply chain management. Additional costs will soon be applicable as to government security requirements in the maritime, aviation and supply chain. The Customs Brokers and Forwarders Council of Australia has appointed national convenors to liaise with the board on airfreight and seafreight matters.
Convenors announced
Darryl Sharp, vice chairman of the CBFCA, made a detailed presentation to delegates at the 2006 National Conference about the council's initiatives on advocacy strategies in ongoing dealings with the Federal Government and related sectors of commerce.
To support the existing board and administration, Mr Sharp said Michael Bennett, operations manager at Universal Air Cargo had been appointed as the national airfreight convenor, and, David Scott, general manager customs and logistics at VI.SA Australia, would be national sea freight convenor.
Mr Sharp said they would bring to the CBFCA team exceptional levels of experience in contemporary business issues and would assist in maintaining a high level of professionalism in dealing with an increased range of emerging statutory and commercial issues.
