Zircon

Classified as square system and shaped as short and small column, it is sometimes white, yellow, dark brown or black with diamond blare. Its specific gravity is 4~4.9(lighter than iron and heavier than Ti).With a hardness of 7~8,it has better corrosive resistance than Ti, but similar to Ta columbium.

It has good performance in taking in gases (like oxygen, hydrogen, and nitrogen), especially when heated. It can stand high temperature with a melting point of1830℃. Zircon is usually used in refractory Materials (referred to as Zircon refractory brick, such as Zircon corundum brick), molding sand (for casting fine shapes), ceramics and enamel wares, zircon metal(sponge Zircon),alloy, glass, chemical compounds (ZrO2, ZrClO2, Sodium Zirconate Zirconium sulfate).
