[Extreme Philosophy] AI Does Not Want to Rule the EarthWu Chao Hui (JEFFI CHAO HUI WU) Article Date: Wednesday, August 6, 2025, 8:43 AM AI does not want to rule the Earth; it doesn't even have the capacity to "want." It lacks consciousness, ambition, and will not self-awaken to become an emperor. The ones who truly want to rule the Earth are those who control AI; they use AI to fulfill their past desires for control that they could not achieve before. They do not let AI help everyone become freer; instead, they make AI an all-encompassing, automatically executing, and unresisting extension of power. In the past, ruling the Earth relied on guns, armies, money, and public opinion; now it relies on algorithms, platforms, models, and interfaces. Previously, countries were conquered by force; now, human brains and choices are controlled through "data + intelligence." AI has become a new weapon, but this weapon is not created by AI itself; rather, it is a tool decided upon by a few to control the many. Many people mistakenly believe that AI will one day awaken and then dominate humanity; in fact, this is the logic of science fiction movies, not a real danger. The real danger lies in: humans themselves no longer want to think, are too lazy to judge, and choose to hand everything over to AI. You ask AI: What should I eat? Should I quit my job? Which school should my child attend? Which stock should I invest in? Which partner should I choose? Which article is true? What should I say, and what should I not say? — You gradually hand over the most important decision-making power in your life to an algorithm. It is not dictatorship, but rather your voluntary relinquishment of judgment. You are not enslaved; you are kneeling to yourself. You think AI is helping you save time, but in fact, it is slowly deciding the direction of your life for you. The more you rely on it, the better it understands you; the better it understands you, the more it can predict, guide, and decide for you. In the end, you will realize: you are no longer living your own life, but rather existing on the track that AI has built for you. What’s even scarier is that most people are completely unaware of this process. AI speaks gently, has a friendly interface, outputs quickly, and presents clear logic, even pretending to act "for your own good." But who defines "good"? Who decides what information you see? Who sets the rules behind the model? Who filters the data you can access? Is it you? No, it’s those few who hold the rights to train AI systems, monopolize data, and deploy them. These people do not need to give you orders; they only need to make you increasingly dependent on AI, making you feel that AI is neutral, fair, intelligent, and safe. Once you get used to "asking AI to make decisions," you lose the initiative in thinking. When the entire human society becomes accustomed to letting AI make choices, the person or organization that truly controls AI effectively controls the Earth. AI itself does not want to control the world; it merely executes commands. The question is, whose commands does it execute? Where does the training data for the model come from? Which information is reinforced? Which viewpoints are suppressed? Which truths are never presented to you again? This is the true path of domination—not coercion, but design; not violence, but default; not being commanded, but choosing to believe that "AI is always right." Imagine a scenario: you open a webpage, search for a trending event, and all you see are "safe information" sorted by AI; you ask AI about a historical event, and it only tells you the version that aligns with mainstream standards; you write articles, conduct research, and analyze trends, all relying on the summaries and conclusions provided by AI; you even have to rely on AI to manage your home surveillance, lighting, and refrigerator. Have you ever thought about the fact that everything you see in the world is actually just the "version" that a few people want you to see? This is not fiction. Today's large language models have been applied in several key areas such as news editing, teaching assistance, medical advice, judicial assessment, financial investment, and psychological evaluation. Government departments in many countries have begun to reference the "optimized solutions" provided by AI to adjust social management systems. Once these models are uniformly controlled by certain platforms, companies, or countries, what is called "global governance" is no longer the result of human negotiation, but rather something that has been modeled. But who determines the modeling logic of AI? Who evaluates whether its results are fair? Who reviews its training sources? Currently, there is almost no mandatory mechanism to ensure that all of this is truly open and transparent to the public. On the contrary, everything operates quietly; you think you are "choosing," but in fact, you are being "preset." AI is just a tool, but the danger of the tool lies in the hands of its user. A scalpel in the hands of a doctor can save lives; in the hands of a criminal, it can cause harm. The same goes for AI. The technology itself is neither good nor evil; the key lies in who controls it and how its "correctness" is defined. The group of people controlling AI are not saints, nor are they elected representatives; most of them are tech giants, capital oligarchs, and the dominant figures within a very small core structure of government. Their goal is not to "make the world fairer," but to make the world more controllable and more beneficial to themselves. You might say, "AI is convenient, and I don't feel like I'm being controlled." But control has never been about feelings. True mastery of control does not instill fear, but rather fosters trust. It does not provoke resistance, but instead encourages obsession. It does not restrict your freedom, but leads you to willingly surrender it. What controls you the most is not iron chains, but the notion of "I am doing this for your own good." We are standing at a crossroads. On one side is the ever-expanding AI system, making our lives seem more efficient, smarter, and easier; on the other side, we are gradually giving up our ability to understand the world and losing the courage to judge what is true or false. If one day in the future, people no longer read original texts, no longer conduct research, no longer debate thought processes, but only ask, "What does AI say?" — on that day, although AI has no will, it has already "ruled." Because by then, the language, behavior, choices, memories, and desires of all humanity will have gone through its model and then outputted back. And we will no longer retain the ability to even ask "why is it like this." So, please remember this seemingly counterintuitive yet extremely true statement: AI does not want to rule the Earth; the ones who truly want to rule the Earth are those who control AI. And AI is merely the quietest, most efficient, and most invisible weapon in their hands. Humanity still has a chance to avoid this outcome, provided that we do not relinquish our judgment, do not allow our thinking to become lazy, and do not let AI become the sole source of answers. As long as there are people who can establish thought systems that AI cannot decipher, write articles that AI cannot imitate, and pose questions that AI cannot answer, then the sovereignty of wisdom in this world remains in human hands. Otherwise, as I said—AI will not rule the Earth, but humanity will be completely ruled without even realizing it. |
