[Martial Arts] Body like a sponge, energy penetrating the earth and sky.Author: Jeffi Chao Hui Wu Time: June 28, 2025, Saturday, 12:19 PM ········································ [Martial Arts] Body like a sponge, Qi connecting heaven and earth I recently realized an unprecedented experience in my practice: the human body is like a sponge, situated between heaven and earth, naturally connecting with the flow of Qi. It is not merely relying on a specific acupoint or area to "inhale" or "retain Qi," but rather every inch of skin and every pore in the body is simultaneously exchanging breath with the universe. A sponge does not only absorb water from one side; the human body should not rely solely on the dantian to communicate with heaven and earth. In the past, I also followed the classic method of focusing on the dantian, but as my skills deepened, the sensation of simultaneous connection throughout the body became increasingly strong. Now, practicing standing post at the beach in temperatures as low as 6 degrees Celsius, I do not need to use intention to guide Qi; just standing for three to five minutes causes my whole body to naturally warm up and sweat evenly. This phenomenon has been repeatedly verified and has become a norm in my daily practice. I have been sleeping on my back for thirty years, which perhaps inadvertently maintains the smooth flow of the Ren and Du meridians, making this exchange of breath more smooth and natural. Master Lin Wenhui highly recognizes my understanding. Although he is nominally my senior brother, he is actually my guide into the world of Tai Chi martial arts and a true enlightening mentor. He is a direct disciple of Master Wang Xianan, with profound skills and sharp insights. Gaining his recognition is a significant affirmation in my years of practice. I do not deny the traditional model, which has been refined over hundreds of years into a classic. I am simply recording my genuine insights faithfully, sharing a path of cultivation that may be closer to the natural way of heaven and earth.
